  Contracting with the Feds:    

1.  First, you must Obtain a DUN's # (Dun and Bradstreet)

Assignment of a D-U-N-SŪ number is FREE for all entities required to register with the federal government by a regulatory agency. This includes federal contractors, prospective government vendors and applicants and recipients of federal grants.

2.  Register with Central Contractor Registration  (CCR)

This is where you enter your Business info into a Federal data base that is used to select Federal Contractors.  You must enter your Tax ID, SSN#, business Bank Routing and Account Numbers, date you started your business and Average Income, just to mention a few items.  It takes approx. (3) hours to complete.  

3.  SBA has resources for Business:

The SBA Web Site has a lot of useful information for Businesses, such as:  Contracting Opportunities, Marketing, Fed. Regulations, Special Interest Topics and much more...

4.  Find Contract Opportunities at:  FedBizOpps.gov

FedBizOpps.gov  is the single government point-of-entry (GPE) for Federal government procurement opportunities over $25,000.  Government buyers are able to publicize their business opportunities by posting information directly to FedBizOpps via the Internet.  Through one portal - FedBizOpps (FBO) - commercial vendors seeking Federal markets for their products and services can search, monitor and retrieve opportunities solicited by the entire Federal contracting community.

 

  VA Business Web Sites:

1.  VA sponsored Small and Disadvantaged Business                          

This is a web site that is User Friendly and has lots of resources for Small and Disadvantaged Businesses.  We strongly recommend you visit this site... 

2.  Center for Veterans Enterprise VetBiz.gov 

This is another great web site sponsored by the VA.  Again, it is Very useful and we highly recommend anyone with a business to visit.  It even discusses Loans and Grants. 

3.  Vetsuccess.gov

The purpose of this web site is to present information about the services that the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) program provides to veterans with service-connected disabilities.

 

  Federal Grants:

1.  Grants.gov

Grants.gov allows organizations to electronically find and apply for competitive grant opportunities from all Federal grant-making agencies.  Grants.gov is the single access point for over 1000 grant programs offered by the 26 Federal grant-making agencies.

  Job Search Tips:

1.  Get out of the house.  Talk to friends, relatives, other job seekers, people that are working in the field that your seeking employment, visit your local State Employment Service on a regular basis.  Networking is critical to finding a job and doing Volunteer work can enhance this.  Very few jobs are obtained at home...

2.  Use the Internet for research purposes.  It is a Great Tool to obtain information on employers, but few jobs are actually obtained via the Internet.

3.  An effective "Job Search" is a full time job.  Work it like a job...

(VUB) is a FREE U.S. Department of Education program designed to help eligible U.S. Military veterans refresh their academic skills, so they can enter and succeed at the post secondary school of their choosing.
